DIOR HOMME D Belt (Part 2)

As posted some time back, we all know that the silver buckle will be released again. This is the brown version which was released in Japan recently. The leather is brown and the buckle is bronze. The stitching is the same as the gold version not the silver version. I guess many of you would still prefer the silver one....

An amusing drawing

of some of the influential designers

Do you recognize all of them?

Hedi Slimane short interview(2004)

TIME: Do you have a "uniform"?

HEDI SLIMANE: I tend to naturally wear a black jacket, a white shirt and a pair of jeans. I have five dozen black jackets, mostly tuxedo jackets, and twice that number of shirts, but I'm afraid it always looks the same.

TIME:What is it about that look that appeals to you so much?

HEDI SLIMANE: I like tailoring a lot, and I am so used to wearing a jacket. It is like a protection or a second skin. I suppose the white shirt helps me focus. It doesn't say much but structure and clean lines.

TIME:Do those same principles drive your collections?

HEDI SLIMANE: I work with a set of rules, a system, that sometimes I try to subvert. But then it naturally all comes back to that sense of structure and lines, to a more minimal approach.
TIME:Will you ever move to New York City?

HEDI SLIMANE: I am thinking more and more about moving to New York and working in Paris. In a way, I feel more at ease in New York with my way of designing and working on concept.

TIME:Whose personal style do you most admire?

HEDI SLIMANE: It is hard for me to say because it is also a [person's] way of thinking that has elegance to it. I liked Samuel Beckett. [He had] a true elegance. I am really fond of music, and rock music in particular—Paul Weller [in] the Jam period, Bowie [in] the Thin White Duke period. But this is already somehow a "fashion" idea of style. Style has to do with lifestyle. It is a total idea, an almost religious idea.

SS08 black waxed jeans??

This is said to be the black waxed jeans from the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2008 collection. It seems like a layer of glitters have been applied but the wash is less obvious. Maybe i can describe it more when i see it in person.

Many of the classic items are still being reproduced again for this season. The jeans are still skinny, the bee is still embroidered on some items...nothing extraordinary though

Many people may think that the brand to follow after Hedi has left would be Lanvin or Balenciaga. I think otherwise...I would rather look up to Cerruti. Many of you might think that Cerruti is a brand which is dying or a brand which has already long gone with history...i can tell you that IT IS NOT. Although Cerruti is an old brand but a new Designer was hired not too long ago, he is Nicolas Andreas Taralis.

These are pictures from the Spring/Summer 2008 collection.

This is the first men's collection after Taralis is appointed creative director.
All the previous collection designed by Taralis was women's collection.

Nicolas Andreas Taralis himself

A little about him:
Nicolas Andreas Taralis is a Canadian and he studied with Helmut Lang at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He has worked as an assistant to Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme. Taralis had been with Slimane since the very beginning of Dior Homme and he left right after the Strip collection to launch his own line, and his time at Dior Homme is evident in his aesthetic, which is similar to Slimane's but a bit grittier than Slimane's immaculate stylings. During his time at Dior Homme, he has contributed a lot to the success of the brand.

but i guess i won't be saying i am wearing Dior Homme...because i am wearing clothes by Hedi Slimane

Spring Summer 2008

I have just seen some pictures of the Spring/Summer collection from Neil Barrett, KrisVanAssche and Dior Homme. Nothing interests me. Nothing! KrisVanAssche was very disappointing, Neil Barret was boring...Dior Homme was ugly as expected because Hedi wasn't involved. None of my favourite designers has impressed me. SS08 is gonna be a disaster for me but it can be a blessing too...because i can save more money...hahaha...
