Better pictures of the new Deville duffle bag
This 2 duffle bags look the same but the materials are different. One of the them is made of quilted leather while the other one is actually made of quilted nylon...both of them have the same price...what's your pick?

Montaigne had the nylon version when I visited the store a few weeks ago, and I didn't quite like the fabrics.
I must say however that the matelassé leather version is much more exquisite and is, IMHO, better looing than the regular leather version...
Noticed that the metallic parts are black and not silver anymore on the nylon version?
Don't remember having checked the price at Montaigne, but this nylon version should be cheaper...

I didn't quite like the nylon because it's the same kind of fabrics used for puff vest : it's cheap when you touch it, and quite girly too I must say. Besides, I think it's a very fragile fabrics for such a multi-purpose bag...
The leather version, I didn't have the chance to see it in the flesh.
The brown version is quite fine I must say, and the gold, well, is for people who may want to show all the way off! ;-)
As for the price, as I said, no idea, but it's just me assuming the nylon should be cheaper (because it doesn't have leather).
Ive seen the ad campaign for these bags. Its shown with the model who have the arm warmers, if memory serves correctly.
Must say that the bag's other repro with nylon fabric etc is starting to make me feel sad, since i think the brand is watered down, kinda like what Versace did with diversifying brands and making it all experimental.
Just get the basic leather one which was the original version. Its the version Hedi himself uses anyways.
btw, im quite suprised they didnt experiment and play around with the tassel part, like use plastic fringes instead of wool. to match the new nylon fabric duffel bag.
i think Dior is trying to rip some people off by making it in nylon version....haha
I think that the leather version simply looks better. I do like the quilting style but I think that the original version is still my favorite. I agree with philippe's post about nylon appearing cheap. For a fashion house like Dior I would expect the best quality. I steer clear of nylon Prada bags for the same reason - they look cheap. I may be in LA at the end of September. Will have to pop in and see if it's worth purchasing as a birthday gift to myself. =)
Leather is good but i think quilted leather will look even nicer. Yeah, i agree too...big fashion house should refrain from using cheap materials...especially nylon....it does not justify the prices that we pay....anyway, hope you enjoy your LA trip.
I have just received the new DH catalogue for FW0708 and the white Deville is now discontinued : Yes! I now have a colletcible item! ;-)
That leaves us now with a gold, silver, black and brown version at 1190€, followed byt the black quilted leather at 1350€ (no price for the nylon version).
