My Balenciaga misfortune

Last weekend, i finally ordered the Balenciaga boots which i have been lusting for. The right size with the right price. The retail price is £500 and it is good for me as the currency exchange rate is low.

Now, 3 days after i've placed my order...the retailer emailed me saying that the boots is lightly damaged after a photoshoot for a magazine. They offered me a 25% discount if i still want the boots but a full refund is definitely possible...So i requested for some pictures of the actual condition of the boots. After looking through the pictures, i decided to have a full refund as the 25% does not justify the damage on the boots. Here are the pictures......

I almost got it...

What do you think? If you are me, will you get a full refund or?

I don't see any damage. If I were you, I would go for 25% discount.

Man I'd definitely go 25% discount. for sure. There's only a little bit of wear on the soles. No one's gonna see that. and you'd do the same thing after wearing them once ya know? go 25% bro!

yeah man go for the discount. none of us can notice the damage. and unless you plan on wearing them only in capreted indoors, the soles will look a lot worse with 2 days of you wearing them.

but hell, try asking for 50% off!!

btw private burberry sale start tomorrow. 30-50% off. if theres anything you want from there let me know. you have my email.

i say go for it, the "damage" you add on will be a lot worse after this winter.

Dude! Go for the boots! That does not even considerws as damage! I would buy it even if it is a 10% discount. =)

May I know where and who you ordered from? Because I want a pair too! and how come they are selling it to you after a photoshoot?

thanks for all the comments...

Everyone thinks that the condition of the boots is still purchasable

Now i am having mixed feeling about it...Like i said, i have already requested for a full refund...the refund is already being processed

hmmmm.....

Those leather soles will have more wear than that after 30 minutes on the pavement. Don't be prissy.

i fully understand the part about the sole. If you look carefully, you will see the damage on the edge of the sole...refer to the 3rd pic

well if it was damaged in a photo shoot (providing it is a normal one in a studio) that means it will be more likely that you will "damage" an undamaged one when you walk on the street anyway. This damage can easily be worsen if you scruff a pavement when you cross the road. When I buy shoes I don't tend to care as much about the sole as is going to be worn anyway, if the upper leather was scratched then is a different question..

I guess the photoshoot is an outdoor one.

I am fully aware that the sole will be damaged from daily use but the edge is a different story...I take good care of my shoes and i know that it will look bad with the edge damaged as that is the area where it can be seen.

Perhaps you can say i am really fussy about it but i just can't bring myself to pay this much for a damaged one.

Im agree with everybody, go for them!!
a 25% discount is a very good chance to get them, will damage in the first days like that

Monsieur AG said...

i've already made up my mind not to get it...

thanks for the comment though

Of course the 25%, when you use them the first day, they will look used anyhow..

I just got my iphone and edited the wallpaper, look at my blog, I think you will like it! ;)

i say push for more than 25%, but if they're not willing...the 25 is fine. your boots are bound to get damaged like that anyways. can't really see em. plus if they retail for a lot more, then theyre definately work the damage

oops i just read that you've decided not to get them. sorry! hope you find something better soon!

Monsieur AG said...

yeah...i am keeping a lookout for boots in a perfect condition

anyway, i just bought the Balenciaga bag that i wanted

If I were in your situation i might have done the same thing. But that's me being really fussy and impulsive. I understand where you're coming from. You were expecting new. You're paying for new. Instead the only pair they could offer you were these "damaged" ones. Quite a disappointment, i'm sure. But if I had accidentally stumbled upon these particular pair with the 25% discount. I'd go for it. I don't mind that it's been used and damaged in a shoot. That, for me, adds character to the piece. All in all, these boots would turn out to be a very lucky find.

My tip would be to think about these types of purchases really hard. Ask for someone else's opinion before you decide.

Anyway, i'm pretty sure you'll find another one in perfect condition. Good luck on your search!
